Wil Konybai was only nine-years-old when he arrived in Calgary with his family from Sudan. Konybai came to Canada as a refugee with his mother and three brothers. He couldn’t speak English and his mother wasn’t able to work because of health problems. The lure of quick cash and crime was always there and his older brother had already gotten into some trouble.

UPDATE: In the Fall of 2015, Wil Konybai entered his second year of university at Nippising University and is on the men’s basketball team. Wil was able, through his hard work, to receive a scholarship for his academic marks from his first year. He continues to update the Calgary Police Service members as to his progress and asks advice on how to tackle some of his new challenges.
